Artist Date

Book in your Artist Date ahead of time, and protect that commitment.

If you haven't done so for this week - MAKE IT HAPPEN! Grab your diary and IMAGINATION now!

Remember Morning Pages are about getting stuff out, and your Artist Date is taking it in.

Its about RECEIVING, opening up to guidance and inspiration.

It's a playdate! MAKE IT FUN!

This week (Wednesday morning) I'm going to take a sketchbook on a bushwalk up on North Head to do some drawings and connect with nature. I remember the last time I did The Artist's Way I discovered sketching was amazingly calming and meditative. Focusing on the details around us is something we often don't have time or the mind to do. Sketching something in front of you requires a special attention.

Share your ideas and experiences for Artist Dates with the group!!!!!

Morning Pages

First of all… ‘There’s no wrong way of doing the Morning Pages.’

But, I do want to share with you the shift I've experienced in relation to them between the last time I did the course and this past week while I've been preparing for the new journey.

I have experienced them as starting 'the flow' – opening the channel for the day. Making myself available as a conduit for THE creative energy to work through. When I don’t have sentences pouring out, then I’ve been writing “Flow. Flow. Flow. Out. Flow out. Through. Flow through. Flow. Flow.”

Another repetitive mantra I love to write when nothing else is there is… “Thank YOU. Thank you. Thankyou. Thank you. Thank you.” You guaranteed to feel present to gratitude after writing this for a while, and gratitude is the most powerful space into which to manifest our visions/creations/dreams.

When I find myself repetitively ‘writing lines’ I can’t help but laugh and think back to the school detentions where I would write page after page of “I will not… I will not…” I feel I am reclaiming some of that crushed individuality and creativity that led to those detentions.

Writing my Morning Pages over the past week, they have become a powerful affirmation of who I am and what I’m creating in the world. I don’t mean creating like a painting, I mean creating like MY LIFE. I find in the flow and stream of consciousness my writing often turns to the 5 Passions I identified in The Passion Test. It creates them a fresh in my experience and jumps out if I’m not living them.

Share with me what you're experiencing!!!!

Welcome

Hello CREATORS!

HERE WE ARE!

I'm very excited because this is the first blog post I've ever made. It's actually the first Blog I've ever subscribed to. I'm excited because ever since I took the Artist's Way journey in 2005 I've wanted to create a Creative Cluster. I never imagined it would be a virtual 'online' cluster, but I'm inspired by the potential of this structure and environment.

Many of you will have already begun The Artist's Way journey since receiving the book in your August pack. I'm going to ask you to start again...... I know, I'm sorry.......

For the Cluster to work we will need to progress 'on the same page', so to speak. Having repeated stages of this work on a number of occasions, I promise you that repeating the weeks you've already done will deepen the benefit of the experience.

Officially, we begin our collective journey to creative recovery tomorrow - Sunday 7th September!

Be sure to have read the Introduction and The Basic Principles.

Sign a Creative Contract with yourself. Matt sent out a PDF version with his email this week, which you can download and print!

Then............. drum roll please..............

Read Week One – Recovering a Sense of Safety.

Make time each morning to begin your Morning Pages.

Book in your Artist’s Date (remember FUN!)

And start on some of the tasks that will assist you in overcoming fears you've acquired around CREATIVITY. You'll begin regaining a Sense of Safety.

Now, this week is a bigger load than the rest, so breath, give up your resistance and find what inspires you about living a creative, created life!!!!

Remember, we are here to support you - the Inspired Minds facilitators and fellow creative journeymen. Log-in to the Blog whenever you have questions, ideas, or want to share and connect.

CREATE AT WILL... and may the UNIVERSAL CREATIVE FORCE flow through you!

Rhymin Simon

PS - a rhyme....

With inspired minds they set a course
For the source of creative force
They had with them a proven map
And guides to lead away from traps
They unfurled hearts and caught the breeze
Adventure bound on open seas.

Starting the Journey

You may be like me.... have purchased the Artist's Way... become engaged and ready to go. purchased a notebook for my morning pages... planned an Artist date and with all the gusto of a new habit set out.

And then the steam runs out... and before too long all the intent has gone elsewhere.

If you have the same type of experience it turns out we are not alone. Artist Way creative cluster facilitator, Judith Bedard, tells me this is a frequent outcome. She feels that by working with a group you can be supported and guided through the journey.

On this blog we are going to support your journey. Our group will be lead by Simon Dikkenberg. Simon is a passionate advocate of the journey.

Listen to Judith and Simon talk about the Artist Way in the latest Inspired Dialogue...
